Adolescence is genuinely difficult, and it is harder now than the version most parents remember. Academic pressure, social media, comparison, changing bodies and shifting friendships all land at once, on a brain that is still developing.
Therapy at this age is not about fixing a young person. It is about giving them somewhere to think out loud without being assessed.
What teenagers often bring
- Exam and academic pressure, and fear of disappointing family
- Anxiety, panic, or difficulty sleeping
- Low mood, withdrawal, or losing interest in things
- Friendship difficulties, bullying, or feeling like an outsider
- Body image and self-esteem
- Family conflict, or navigating between cultures and expectations
How I work with young people
The first task is trust. A teenager who feels sent, monitored or reported on will not use the space, and quite reasonably so. I am warm, direct, and I do not talk down to them.
Sessions are led by what they bring. We might work practically on anxiety or sleep, or spend time untangling something they have not been able to say elsewhere. Both are legitimate uses of the hour.
For parents and guardians
Consent from a parent or guardian is required before we begin, and I will speak with you during the intro call so you know what to expect.
On confidentiality, I am straightforward with everyone: what your child shares stays between us, with the exception of situations involving risk to their safety or someone else's. I explain those limits to them directly at the start, because trust built on a vague promise does not last.
I can offer general updates on how the work is progressing without repeating the contents of sessions. Most families find that balance workable.
Practical details
50-minute sessions on Google Meet. A private space matters more than usual here — a teenager being overheard will not speak freely. Fees are the same as adult sessions: PKR 4,000 in Pakistan, USD 50 internationally.
